doing time for thought crime

I am becoming more and more paranoid of the world. Anyone who has read any of my longer or more passionate blog posts will know that I am an ardent anti-religionist and strong atheist. 

Before now, I'd always been quite okay with religion, thinking that since this is the 21st century, the mighty 2000's, the time of rapid scientific advancement and discovery, this sort of ridiculous thinking was dying out.

I AM WRONG.

Contrary to what I thought, religious extremes are not dying out but growing. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY. People are becoming more and more afraid, and are losing their wonder for the world. They want to believe in something more, in something extra. Human life, and human values, and humanity itself is NOT good enough for them. Where is this coming from? Why are we not enough? Why is THIS not enough?

Extreme Evangelist Christians in the United States are at a rapid raise. These people are ridiculous. They establish bans on childrens books- Harry Potter is banned (witchcraft is of the devil), they scar children by making them believe their friends and family are going to burn in an eternal fire for silly things, teaching their children plain nonsense and most of all- not letting people, children mostly, enjoy their life. Then these people grow up, create offspring and pass on these ideas. 

These people wish to create an Evangelist Christian militia that aims to eliminate people of other religions and of no religion. These people will badger you and bug you to accept their views (which are completely ridiculous and erroneous, by the way) or they will condemn you.

Does this sound familiar? Yes, it sounds like every other major religion; Judaism, Islam, Christianity, Catholicism, Hinduism, etc.

I used to be an advocate for free belief. I still am. Yet there's a limit. You have the right to freedom of religion, of belief, of speech, of life of whatever. But the kids being brainwashed lack this freedom. They don't get freedom of choice, they don't choose their beliefs. And this makes me sick to my stomach. These people are are the dog that bite off your hand when you offer them a pellet. 

The world is becoming polarised. Perhaps

1. These people will end up killing each other and the rest of us can continue to live and finally rid the world of idiocy
2. These people will kill us and then end up killing each other
3. One group of these people will kill everyone and take over
4. People will come to their senses and there's a happy ending
5. The rest of us can try to stop the brainwashing of children into believing what their parents believe, and slow down the polarisation of theists!

God

I think this is the time I talk about my belief. This was prompted by a discussion I'm having at this very moment with one of my very best friends, Gabi.
I'll keep her opinions and views out of this because it's not my place to say.

Here's something to get me started

1. I do not belong to or believe or follow any established religion
2. I do not believe in any intelligent being responsible for the creation of humankind/the world, etc.
3. I do not believe there to be any intelligent being watching over us and/or judging us
4. I won't completely reject anything, but I will not embrace it either

1. The reason for this is that all religion is written by man. It's organised, and the rules, theories, beliefs are 99% man made, reflecting the beliefs and desires of man hundreds and thousands of years ago. One man's fries are another man's death. Or something like that. Meaning that views change from person to person, and generation to generation. Idiotic prejudices don't apply anymore, and anyone who believes of embraces any organised religion either does it as a defense mechanism, or is a fucking idiot. Now, I have friends who are religious, very religious in fact, but they know enought to keep it the fuck out of around me. One of the things I despise most is organised religion. It can make people do the most inhumane things ever heard of.  The theories found in the bible, ku'ran, etc. are all conflicting and innaplicable to modern life. I'm going to leave this at this, because if I get too into it, this will never end.
2. So we've heard lots of theories as to why there would be no intelligent being in charge of creating human kind. Biggest contradiction to this: FUCKING EVOLUTIONARY THEORY. I'm not going to elaborate on this, because honestly if there's anyone out there who has been taught the evolutionary theory and still refuses to accept it as at least the basis of the truth is pretty stupid. But now now, I don't want to offend anyone.
3. This is simply because all the bad shit going on. War, disease, natural disaster, violation, etcetc. If all of this was against "God's" law, then why would it be possible? Don't answer that. I'm getting kind of tired now, explaining all of this. Now on to number 4
4. Now, I say that I do not believe in god, and I do not believe in any organised religion, or any unproven theory created by man. That doesn't mean though, that I reject everything. For example, I could very easily consider a universal energy that encompasses all living and possibly nonliving things, which would be like the origin of everything. But that doens't make it intelligent or conscious. I can believe that there is something superior to mankind, easily. I don't think that whatever that is is watching over us or even gives a flying shit about us.

Same goes for angels, demons, etc. The things I do wholeheartedly believe in are

• Love
• Mankind (People, duh)
• Nature
• Free will, and our power to do anything
• Knowledge
• Healing through energy (Reiki, etc.).
• Science, in general. (That which is unproven shall remain untrue until it is proven). Or at least makes a lot of sense.

Free will is a huge thing, because it's not only something I believe exists somewhere, but it's something that we all need. When I say free will I don't mean free to go kill some guy, or drop acid in a dumpster. I mean being able to do anything one wants to do, and not feeling guilt or being punished OR REWARDED for it. Obviously it's not good for say, killing people and rape and violence and all that, but that also depends on where you're looking at.
A rapist might not consider rape as being bad.

So how did I get from religion to rape? Beats me.
I might elaborate sometime, but right now, I'm beat. :) Have a happy Friday guys.

Stuffing birds

I've erased what I was going to write at least 5 times now. There's something I want to say but I'm not sure I can make it sound interesting enough. To be quite honest, it's not interesting, and therefore doesn't need to sound interesting.
I wish I could write about something interesting. But the only thing I really know is myself and what I know, and trust me I don't know that much.
But I do want to address something. This is the state of being-thyselfism. Or that's what I shall call it.

I'm going to tell you a little secret. No one cares who you are. Now, it sounds much more depressing than it really is. No one cares if I like indie or if I like rap, no one cares if I like pink or if I like black. So I guess what I'm getting at is you might as well keep it simple, that way you don't need to keep track of your lies.
Though lies are sometimes all you can do. Lie. Like this amazing book by Mr Stephen Fry



Whom I, by the way, adore.
I'm not sure where we'd all be without lies. No more politics. No more religion. No more... doubt.
But there would be so much more cruelty. Imagine all those nasty thoughts inside your head, they're all out in the open. Imagine how many people are going to be hurt.
Imagine no politics. In a sense politics are kind of like religion. It's a system greater than yourself put there by people "greater than yourself" to keep you in order. To give you the illusion of choice, of freedom, of care. To give you rules to follow, guidelines that you compete for like schoolkids compete for grades. Who's the most pure, who hasn't strayed. Your criminal record is like your purity rings, or whatever it is they wear- you're clean and pure and innocent.
Not that I'm saying go do criminal things, go go go, because that's not at all what I'm saying.
I don't know what I'm saying.
I guess what I'm saying is it's not a contest, and that it's a lie. But it might be something we need. Talking about government and politics here, not religion, for that's something I find completely useless and purely harmful for all living forms of... life.
Anyway, go and do whatever you like. That's the best.
